Harvey Nichols have launched their Autumn/Winter 2017 window displays and follows the theme of Escapism. Visitors to the store can be taken on a journey through the windows using aeroplanes, birds in flight and classic cars.

Each window represents a form of transportation and gives a 360-degree view of the story that is being told across the windows. You can see a sense of movement in many of the windows, though everything is stationary, such as the horse that has been made from Scaletrix tracks and cars.

In one window, mannequins are suspended from the ceiling and are dressed exclusively in AW17 collections. They have a hair made up of feathers, and as they hover above the ground, it creates a fun and mystical environment. Next to the mannequins are several bird props, also suspended from the ceiling, giving the feeling they are in flight.

The 3D window displays incorporate many props, from signs that read ‘Fragile’ and ‘Don’t Stack’ to boxes and parcels wrapped in brown packing paper and covered in stickers. In one window there is an elephant, also wrapped in paper and tied around in string. Another window features a shoal of fish against a blue background and lit by blue filtered lights, creating an underwater feeling.

Backdrops on the windows also follow the Escapism and travel feeling, using maps of the world, that feature different information, such as weather fronts and shipping lanes.
